love letter, (2024)
I once had a dream that I could fly.
The cops and the city demanded I land and face justice.
(For what? I was innocent).
They put a bounty on my head!
I almost obeyed, but then I remembered... I’m the one who can fly!
I flew away, out of their reach, and didn’t stop. From one high apartment window to the next, I was forced to steal food and stylish Afghan coats to get by.
On the lam, the sky was my home and I never stayed in one place for long.
Now that things have cooled off, I’ve sent you this postcard to let you know I’m back….
Directed, shot, modeled, edited, illustrated by me.
Photoshop.
Behind the scenes.
This pipe cleaner heart was the impetus for the whole project.
It looked like a portal to me.
Next, I shot myself as the ‘me’ from my dream.
I directed myself to embody her mischievous, rebellious attitude.
A timelapse of the months-long process of filling the page with ‘doodles’.
In this day and age it might be worth it to say I drew all of this by hand.
I took my time adding song lyrics and images from other dreams that reminded me of my original dream.
